Spring is trying hard to emerge from this lingering winter.
The flowers are cooperating. I’m seeing tulips in our local shops again and of course had to buy some right away.
I rescued some budding branches from a Chinatown vendor who had plopped them in a bucket. They rewarded me when I got them safely home by delicately unfolding pale, pink spring blossoms.
Gerbera daisies are good for year-round color and warmth.
And look what’s popping up in neighborhood yards– I love the intense blue of Agapanthus, even– and maybe especially– when they’re just buds.

I can’t wait for the plumerias to fill Hawaii yards again. If you know someone whose trees are already in full bloom, email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
