What do Katy Perry, Will. i. am, Adam Lambert, John and Yoko, and United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki Moon– and YOU– have in common?
They’re part of what might be the greatest singalong ever for one of the best causes in the world– the welfare of children. And you can join them!
“As part of its celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, which was ratified by the General Assembly on Nov. 20, 1989, Unicef has enlisted a roster of star performers to record versions of the Lennon classic for a downloadable “#IMAGINE” app that will allow aspiring interpreters to record their own video versions of the song, singing to the Lennon original, or any of the covers. Users can then post their versions to social media via the app.
“In December, David Guetta, the French D.J. and producer, will take both the celebrity and user recordings into the studio to make a video remix of the song, to be released on Unicef’s website, probably before the end of the year.”
This is still one of my favorite songs and will be forever. I can’t wait to see the remix at the end of the year.
